Background

People with type 2 diabetes may experience different glycemic outcomes based on how consistently they use CGM. This retrospective analysis of 9,258 adults with type 2 diabetes evaluated the relationship between CGM use over 12 months and changes in A1C across multiple treatment regimens.

Main outcomes

  • Greater CGM use was associated with greater A1C reduction, with the most durable improvements observed in people using CGM for more than 270 days.
  • The first six months after CGM initiation emerged as an important period for establishing long-term glycemic benefit.
  • Improved glycemic outcomes were observed across treatment regimens, including non-insulin therapies, basal insulin, and prandial insulin. CGM use alongside GLP-1RA, SGLT-2i, basal insulin, and prandial insulin was associated with greater A1C reductions than medication alone.
