Getting started with the Dexcom G7 receiver is easy. Paul has just received his system. Let’s watch him get it set up.
Both the Dexcom G7 and Dexcom G7 15-day sensor work with the Dexcom G7 receiver. Your sensor box contains your sensor, overpatch, and instructions for use. Your Dexcom G7 receiver box contains your receiver, usb cable and power adapter.If you are using the Dexcom G7 15 day sensor your sensor box looks different. Dexcom G7: Sensor lasts up to 10 days - plus a 12 hour grace period Dexcom G7 15 Day: Sensor lasts up to 15 days - plus a 12 hour grace period
Your receiver has 4 buttons – select, scroll down, go back , and scroll up.
To turn on your receiver press and hold the select button for 3 seconds. The receiver walks you through the entire setup process step by step. Select next to continue.
First you will accept the Dexcom terms of use and privacy policy and set your date and time.
Then the receiver walks your through a series of educational screens. This in-receiver mini tutorial will teach you all about safety, treatment decisions, trend arrows, alerts and reading your home screen.
After the tutorial, your will be prompted to insert your sensor. For printed instructions and sensor site locations see the instructions in your sensor box.
Now let’s insert the sensor and apply the overpatch.
Follow the insertion instructions carefully. Extra care may help you keep your sensor on for the entire sensor session. Avoid areas:
- Near waistband or with irritations, scarring, tattoos, or lots of hair
- That get bumped, pushed, or laid on while sleeping
- Without enough fat to avoid muscles and bones
- Within 3 inches of infusion or injection site
Before you begin wash and dry your hands.
Then clean your site with an alcohol wipe.
Let it air-dry for at least 10 seconds.
Grab your applicator and unscrew the cap. Don’t touch inside the applicator.
Push the applicator against your skin until the clear ring disappears. Keep it pushed in and press the button.
Remove the applicator.
To help keep the patch on your skin, press on the sensor for 10 seconds. Then rub around the patch 3 times.
Your overpatch will help you keep the sensor on and is bundled with your instructions in the box.
Carefully pull off the clear liners one at a time. Don’t touch the adhesive area.
Use the tab to place the overpatch around the sensor.
Rub around the overpatch.
Use the tab to peel off the liner.
Then rub around the overpatch.
Back on the receiver Select that your sensor is inserted.
You will then need to enter the pairing code. You will find the 4-digit pairing code on the applicator you used to insert the sensor.
Wait for your sensor to pair. Once pairing is complete select finish and you will enter into your sensor warmup.The sensor warmup timer lets you know when you’ll start getting readings and alerts.
That’s it! You have successfully setup your Dexcom G7 receiver!
