No, the Dexcom G7 receiver cannot be used as part of the OmnipodÆ 5 System. Users must use the Dexcom G7 mobile app on a compatible device as part of the system.  Visit dexcom.com/compatibility.

Why does my patient have to use the Dexcom G7 Mobile App, instead of the receiver?

The Omnipod 5 System requires the Dexcom G7 mobile app, not the Dexcom G7 receiver, to set-up the Dexcom G7 CGM System. The Dexcom G7 can only connect with one medical device, either the Dexcom G7 receiver or the Pod, at a time. Omnipod 5 provides automated insulin delivery with the Pod and Dexcom G7 continuously connected. This means that, to remain in automated mode, the Pod must be the medical device that Dexcom connects with and the Dexcom receiver cannot be used. My patient has a Dexcom order on file at a DME distributor. Do I have to write a new order for G7?

If your patients are new to Omnipod 5, their DME distributor may be able to use their current order on-file to upgrade them to Dexcom G7.  Your patients should call their DME distributor to confirm if you need to send a new order for Dexcom G7.  

If your patient is a current Omnipod 5 user, please wait to request a new order for Dexcom G7 until they have received the Pods compatible with Dexcom G6 and G7.

For patients new to Omnipod 5, you can send a new prescription for Dexcom G7 right away.

For patients who are current Omnipod 5 users, please wait until they have received the Pods compatible with Dexcom G6 and G7 before sending a new prescription for Dexcom G7.

My patient receives healthcare from the VA. How do they get the Omnipod 5 integrated with Dexcom G7?

In order to use the System, VA customers  need to wait for their VA pharmacy to restock with the Pods compatible with both Dexcom G6 and G7. Availability is expected in Q4 2024.

Once the new Pods are available at your VA pharmacy, ask your VA healthcare provider to write a prescriptions for Omnipod 5 and Dexcom G7 to the VA pharmacy .
